There are two components in this kit, the ERA-RXPG receiver that plugs directly into a standard outlet, and the ERA-PBTX. The ERA-PBTX may be mounted with the included mounting screws or double-sided tape.

The listing says up to 12 ERA transmitters per receiver — does that mean 12 buttons per chime, or 12 chimes per button?
There is no limit to the number of receivers a push button works with. For example, you could have 1 push button, and when pressed, triggers 10 different receivers to strobe and chime. Each receiver, in this case, the ERA-RXPG, can work with up to 12 push buttons. So you could have 12 push buttons MAX work with one receiver, with each push button having a different ringtone.

Can I install the ERA-PBTX on a metal door frame using tape?
Yes, it ships with a piece of double-sided tape. But be aware that the push button is a transmitter that sends the wireless radio signal to the receiver. Placing it directly on metal will reduce the transmission range (there are so many factors it would be impossible to tell you exactly how much). That said, it should be fine if it's a front or back door frame. The double-sided tape helps a little because it will elevate it off the metal a little, which helps with the transmission.

I want an RXPG receiver with push buttons at my front and garage doors — do I order two buttons, or a kit plus one more button?

Can I get a ship's-horn or foghorn chime, how many buttons can I connect, and can each button play a different sound?
Hello and thanks for your question. The ERA-DCKIT will play 12 different melodies or tunes. On this page, you can hear the different sounds--Fog horn is not one of them. The receiver in the kit can work with up to 12 transmitters/sensors at a time and you can use an unlimited number of receivers.

Can the commonly available CR2450 battery be used in the ring button? Is there any significant difference between the CR2450 and the CR2450A battery provided with this kit? The only difference I can find is that the CR2450A is rated at 560MAH and the CR2450 is rated at 620MAH. The only place I find that lists the CR2450A is DIGI-KEY Electronics (a Panasonic Distributor) and they will only sell a minimum quantity of 200.
