Buying notes
Is this the right fit?
- Good fit when
- Use this when the existing wired doorbell system works and you are replacing the outside button for fit, finish, lighting, or weather exposure.
- Look at another option when
- It will not make a wired doorbell wireless, and it will not fix a failed transformer or chime.
- Range reality
- Check the listed compatibility and placement notes before ordering. Building layout often matters as much as the product rating.
- Setup note
- Match the button size and mounting style to the existing opening or surface. Turn off power to the low-voltage circuit before replacing the button.
BC267LG Lee Electric Gold Lighted Doorbell Button with Name Plate
The Lee Electric BC267LG is a wired doorbell button for one front door that does two small jobs most buttons skip. The white button is lighted, so a visitor can find it after dark without a porch light on, and a name plate window below the button holds a card with the family name, the unit number, or "Office" or "Deliveries" for a side entrance. Both sit on one gold-tone plate about 3 inches tall, which keeps the look tidy on a narrow door casing.
It replaces any standard two-wire doorbell button on a transformer-powered system, and the two mounting screws come in the package.

How a Lighted Button Works
Pressing the button closes a contact between the two screw terminals on the back and completes the low-voltage circuit from your transformer to the chime, the same way any wired button does. The light is a small lamp wired across those same two terminals. When nobody is pressing the button, a trickle of current flows through the lamp and the chime's coil, which is enough to glow the button but not enough to ring the chime. Press the button, the lamp is bypassed, and the chime sounds.
That trickle current is why lighted buttons pair with mechanical chimes, the ding-dong type with a plunger and tone bars. Most electronic or digital chimes do not tolerate it and may hum, chirp, or refuse to ring. If you are not sure which type you have, pull the cover off the chime: if you see metal bars and a plunger, you are fine. Lee also notes on the package that lighted buttons are not recommended on systems above 16 volts, which covers the standard 16V transformer in most homes.
Replacing an Old Button
- Turn off power to the doorbell circuit at the transformer or breaker.
- Unscrew the old button and loosen its two terminal screws to free the wires.
- Wrap each wire around one of the BC267LG's terminal screws and tighten. Polarity does not matter on a doorbell button.
- Mount the plate with the two included screws, slide your name card into the window, and restore power.
If the button does not light or the chime does not ring after the swap, the usual suspects are the transformer or the chime rather than the button. Our doorbell transformer guide explains how to check both with a meter.
What Sets the BC267LG Apart
Among the wired doorbell buttons we carry, the BC267LG is one of the few that builds a name plate into a single-button plate. Compared with a plain lighted brass button like the DH1665L or the DH1630 series, you get:
- A clear name plate window with a white card insert, held from behind by a snap-in carrier so it cannot fall out
- A white lighted button that glows from the inside rather than a thin halo ring
- A bright gold-tone finish with a simple three-line accent between the button and the window
- Rear screw terminals, so no crimping or special connectors
If you need two buttons with two labels at a shared entrance, see the BC203 two-family button from the same Lee line.
About the Finish
The plate is a formed metal shell in a polished gold tone with rounded corners, a little over 1 inch deep at the sides. The button and the name plate are plastic. It is a bright, traditional finish that pairs with brass door hardware, brass kick plates, and painted trim.

Where the BC267LG Fits
This is a good button for an apartment or condo entry door where the unit number needs to be on the bell, a house with a separate office or in-law entrance, or any front door where visitors arrive after dark and keep hunting for the button. Builders and property managers also use it where every unit needs the same button with a different name card.
If you are starting from scratch rather than replacing a button, pair it with a 16V transformer such as the DT-1610A and a mechanical chime like the Craftmade CH1000. For fit questions, the push button measurement guide shows how we measure plate size and screw spacing.
The Lee Electric BC267LG puts a lighted button and a name plate on one small gold plate. Order it here with the mounting screws and name card included.
