- Use this when the existing wired doorbell system works and you are replacing the outside button for fit, finish, lighting, or weather exposure.
- Look at another option when
- The chime does not ring even with the old button's two wires touched together. That points to the transformer or the chime, not the button. If you want a lighted button, check that the existing chime is the mechanical type most lighted buttons need.
- Mounting and fit
- This button is listed as surface mount. Surface-mount buttons sit on top of the trim or siding with the wires through a small hole behind them. Flush or recessed buttons drop into a cutout so the faceplate sits closer to the wall. Compare the mounting style, faceplate size, and screw spacing with the old button so the new one covers the old footprint and lines up with the existing holes.
- Setup note
- Turn off power to the low-voltage circuit, note which wire went to which terminal on the old button, then move the two wires to the new button's screw terminals and mount it with the included screws.

I put the normal one on my front business door. I also have a few old antique ones with various plastic eyes from Etsy site. The cat eye is a 1/2" which can be glued on or pry the plastic button off and glue directly to the backing which is what this bell in the middle pic is which I added and is voted the best one and also the cat eye makes it even more awesome. This companys Staff fixs any issue on the spot and I highly recommend this site. The burnished brass is only sold here as far as I could see and at a great price.

How do I change batteries in the receiver and what kind of batteries does it take?
The RC4300 receiver takes 4 D batteries and these batteries are located in the brass tubes on the side of the chime. To release the tube, press in the center and lift forward. How or where do I change batteries?
To change the batteries in the chime, remove the brass tubes by pressing each tube in the center and lifting forward. To change the batteries in the button, insert a ball point pen into the round hole at the bottom and gently push in tab, then lift cover. How does it connects to wall?
MOUNTING BATTERY CHIME RECEIVER 1. Mark screw locations onto wall for position. 2. Drill 7/32" holes into wall for plastic anchors. Place anchors into holes and install silver screws. 3. Leave screw heads extending about 1/4" from wall. 4. Slide Receiver base onto screws and lock into slots. 5. Place Decorator Chime cover over Receiver base
