How Far Will the WC180-SS Flashing Doorbell Reach?
The WC180-SS is rated for up to 600 ft in open air. Walls, metal and masonry reduce the range indoors.
The WC180-SS is rated for up to 600 ft from the push button to the receiver in open air. That covers most homes, but walls and building materials shorten it.
What reduces the range?
Metal, concrete, stucco, brick and aluminum between the button and the receiver can cut the signal. So can interference from other wireless devices. The button and the SS155 receiver use one of 17,000 privacy codes, which helps the receiver ignore signals that are not from its own buttons.
Test before you mount
Hold the button where you plan to mount it, plug the receiver into the outlet you plan to use, and press. If it does not respond, try another outlet, or add a second SS155 strobe receiver in a room closer to the door.
What if my walls are brick, metal or stucco?
Look at the ERA-DCKIT. It works much the same way, can flash a strobe, and is rated for up to 4,000 ft from the push button to the receiver.
