What Are Privacy Codes on SS Series Doorbells?
Privacy codes help an SS Series receiver respond only to the transmitters paired with it. The WC180-SS lists 17,000 privacy codes.
A privacy code is the digital ID a wireless transmitter sends with its signal. The receiver responds only to transmitters that have been paired with it, which reduces false alerts from other wireless devices nearby.
The WC180-SS specifications, which cover the SS111 push button and the SS155 receiver, list 17,000 privacy codes.
Do I have to set a code?
No. There are no switches to set. You pair each transmitter to the receiver, and the receiver learns it. The push button in a kit comes paired to the kit's receiver from the factory. Follow Programming the SS Series of Products to pair a new button, door contact or receiver.
Will a neighbor's doorbell ring mine?
Not unless it has been paired to your receiver. SS Series receivers respond only to SS Series transmitters that have been paired with them. They do not respond to ERA, LRA or Dakota Alert transmitters, or to Ring or other video doorbells.
