What is the difference between a 5/8-inch button insert and a full doorbell button?

A full button is the plate and the switch together. An insert is just the round center piece that presses into a 5/8-inch hole in an existing plate. If your plate is fine and only.

What is the difference between a 5/8-inch button insert and a full doorbell button?

A full button is the plate and the switch together. An insert is just the round center piece that presses into a 5/8-inch hole in an existing plate. If your plate is fine and only the center button is cracked or stuck, an insert such as the Lee BC205B (gold rim, unlighted) or the DH1200 series (brass or silver rim, lighted or unlighted) fixes it without disturbing the plate. If the plate itself is damaged or you want a different look, replace the whole button from the wired buttons range.
