You do not need an electrician. The transmitter connects to the screw terminals inside your existing wired chime.
- Turn off power to the doorbell transformer, then take the cover off your wired chime.
- Find the terminal strip. Most chimes have three screws, labeled Front (front door button), Back (back door button) and Trans (transformer).
- Connect the transmitter's three wires, about 9 in long, one to each screw. If you have only a front door, connect the front and transformer wires and leave the back door wire unconnected.
- Mount the transmitter inside the chime cabinet if there is room, or on the wall next to or just above the chime. The ERA-EXTX includes double-sided tape; the LRA-EXTX includes mounting hardware.
- Plug in the receiver, pair it to the transmitter, and pick a melody for each door. Pairing steps are in the manual for your kit on the product user manuals page.
- Restore power and test both doorbell buttons before you put the chime cover back.
Your wired chime keeps ringing as before; the receivers ring at the same time.
