I was updating the old Rittenhouse Chime doorbell that I could no longer get parts for. The Carlon battery powered unit emulates the chime sound perfectly and was easy to install. Because it’s battery operated I could just mount it over the old real chime unit which is now a decorative antique. I’m very pleased to have the correct sound back. Hope the batteries last a long time, but they should be very easy to replace when the time comes.

Doorbell stopped working I put new button batteries on the outside button and new C batteries on the inside pack It's still not chiming. Should I assume something has malfunctioned with the outside button?
Good afternoon. The issue is usually the outdoor button since it is out in the elements. You can try a replacement button and see if that fixes the issue, I have included a link for the button below. As long as your current system was manufactured after 2001, the button will sync up with your receiver. You can find the manufactured by date located on a round QC sticker on the back of your receiver. There will be several numbers printed on the sticker, the last two would be the manufactured by date. How do you change battery?
The top part of the case comes off the lower half of the case. If you flip the receiver over, you will notice the word "Open" with a small arrow located towards the top.

Size, h x w. Need to cover a 4x4 in box where the wired chimes were located. Also, this receiver is compatible with the Carlon Wireless Doorbell Push Button in Faux / Nickel Finish - Brushed Nickel SKU: RC4133 ?
The mounting holes on back of the unit are 4-3/4'' across so it should easily cover a 4 x 4 hole. Yes, this is compatible with the RC4133

I bought a Carlon entrance alert chime by mistake. Can get a door bell button to work off the plug in chime. The model number number number is RC8253R?
