This wired doorbell transformer may be used as an 8V, 16V, or 24V transformer.  Manufactured by Carlon, a Thomas and Betts company, this transformer will power up to two low-voltage devices; 10VA(watts) for 8 and 16 volts, and a secondary 20VA(watts) at 24 volts.

The Ideal Transformer to Power Two Chimes, Bells, or Buzzers on the Same Transformer.

Small and compact, this product is durable and packs a punch.  The versatility enables contractors to use it in a variety of situations.  Rather than stocking three different voltages of transformers, stock this one and use the setting you need.

  1. I was happy to Receive the package in a few days, fast shipping, unfortunately one screw on the button was stripped so I re threaded it a size bigger and used a larger screw. The rest of the install went well. The bell rang 4 or 5 times and then failed to ring. I checked for voltage at the bell and all was well there. found the contact in the bell in need of adjustment. I bent the arm base a wee bit to give the points better contact and it seems to be ok.

Can I connect a device to the 8 VAC side with another device connected to the 24 VAC side of the same tri-volt transformer? Karl Knowlton asked on 04/10/2024

Good afternoon,

It's not recommended to do this. Use either one, but not both.

The transformer feels hot ALL OF THE TIME. Is there a connection issue? How much electricity does this transformer use, even when the door bell is not ringing? I feel like this heat is costing me a lot of electricty (on my bill) even when the door bell may get rung twice a month. Steve (aka STRANGER) Berry asked on 09/11/2022

How do I wire 2 chimes to your 24v, 20va transformer? There are 2 doorbell buttons, and each button should work both chimes at the same time. Thanks, ET Ernest Tonski asked on 05/27/2022
