Buying notes
Is this the right fit?
- Good fit when
- Use this when doorbell wiring is already in place and you want a permanent, battery-free chime.
- Look at another option when
- It is not the easiest choice when there is no usable wiring, when the door is far from the chime, or when receivers are needed in several rooms.
- Range reality
- Check the listed compatibility and placement notes before ordering. Building layout often matters as much as the product rating.
- Setup note
- Check the existing transformer, button, and chime compatibility before replacing parts. Video doorbells may need more transformer capacity than an older chime did.
The DH1400 Series Wired Doorbell Button from Thomas & Betts (Carlon) is a stylish and sophisticated option for those seeking a masculine yet subtle design. The doorbell button boasts a rectangular housing that is available in three different finishes, adding versatility to its aesthetic appeal. The push button at the center of the housing is particularly noteworthy, featuring a white raised light that makes it easy to locate and press, even in low-light conditions. With its elegant design and high functionality, the DH1400 Series Wired Doorbell Button is a great addition to any home or office.
While several doorbell buttons have a more conventional-looking rectangular-shaped housing, the DH1400 Series has a longer and more slender rectangular housing to make it less bulky in design and appearance.
The push button is surface-mounted.

The button works fine, but I am not sure how it will hold up over time. It fits on the brickmould where my old/previous button was. Button replacement was relatively easy since the distance between the mounting screws matches the old button. I am disappointed the incandescent lamp is not readily replaceable because it is soldered to the terminal board. The lamp in my old/previous button was replaceable. When the lamp eventually burns out I will likely replace the button with an LED model (Craftmade BS6). The old/previous button was replaced because the brass contacts had become oxidized and would not reliably ring the doorbell every time the button was pushed. Unfortunately the contacts in the new button (bare copper strips) are similar in design and will likely oxidize over time.
It does the job.
Nice Looking Doorbell. Great Price. Realize that it is plastic but sturdy and durable enough to survive normal levels of use.
Item as described and very easy to order. Great!
