I have an existing wired doorbell button. The wiring is broken in the wall and I would like to replace the button only with a wireless button. I would like the new button to activate the existing chimes that are still working. Do you have a solution for me?

The LRA-D1000 is an excellent Wireless Door Chime if you need more than 150-300 feet in range. This device is perfect for business where there is a large warehouse in the back. The device has a bright LED flasher included. This is handy if your warehouse is very noisy and you are unable to hear the chime sound. You have the option to set the device to “flash,” “chime,” or “flash and chime.”

The package includes one receiver and one wireless push button. The receiver is powered by 3 “C” batteries or an optional plug-in wall transformer which does not come included in the package. This door chime has 4 zones, so you will be able to expand the DC-1000 with 3 additional push buttons. The door chime has 16 different tunes, so you can set it up to know exactly which push buttons is sending the signal to your chime. Door and window contact alerts can also be purchased to use with the DC-1000 as well.

The answer to the initial question is no, you cannot use a wireless doorbell button (transmitter) with a wired doorbell system UNLESS you are using a doorbell extender type of product.

Wireless door chime systems work using radio frequency. The transmitter (push button) communicates with a receiver, usually battery powered or plugin. When a visitor pushes the doorbell button, it sends a wireless signal to the compatible receiver.

A wired doorbell is connected to a doorbell transformer and is wired to the push button. The push button does not transmit a wireless signal and will not be able to communicate with the wired doorbell.

Unfortunately you can NOT use a “wireless button” with a wired chime. You would have to get the wiring fixed if you want to use your current wired chimes OR change to a completely wireless system. For this type of repair you would need to call an electrician out to repair your wiring, since it is the wiring inside of your wall.

However, we do offer plenty wireless doorbell systems that can be set up in minutes. This route would also be significantly cheaper than calling an electrician out to your home.

At a minimum just calling an electrician out to your home will cost 100$, this does not include the work they will do once they are at your home. You can get a new Wireless Door Chime System for way less, you can even build a custom system with multiple receivers and push buttons for just under 100$.
